Ali and Zach



Ali and Zach’s Sanibel Island engagement session was the perfect mix of adventure, connection, and real-life Florida moments. We met in November on a beautiful Southwest Florida evening shortly after they got engaged. They had traveled in from Arizona and wanted to take their engagement photos somewhere meaningful, which made Lighthouse Beach on Sanibel Island the perfect choice.

Sanibel holds special memories for both of them, and choosing a location that already carried emotional weight added depth to every image. We started the session walking along the shoreline, heading down the coast to find a more secluded stretch of beach. The light was soft, the water calm, and the setting felt quiet and intimate, exactly what you hope for during an engagement photo session in Sanibel Island, Florida.

Very quickly, we realized the bugs were out in full force. Classic Florida. But Ali and Zach were absolute troopers. Despite the bug bites, they stayed present, laughed through it, and fully leaned into the experience. We spent much of the session close to the water where the breeze helped, then occasionally climbed up the sand bank to capture more cinematic engagement photos with dramatic angles and depth. Every time I asked if they were up for one more spot, they were all in.

Their connection made the session effortless from start to finish. One of my favorite moments from the evening came when I gave them a simple “drunk walk” prompt and told them to just walk down the beach together like they’d had one too many drinks. What followed was pure chaos in the best way. Laughing, bumping into each other, spinning, and completely forgetting the camera was there. Those images ended up being some of the most fun and genuine from the entire session and perfectly captured their dynamic.

From candid moments along the shoreline to bold, cinematic frames near the lighthouse, Ali and Zach leaned fully into the experience, bugs and all. Photographing their engagement session on Sanibel Island felt relaxed, playful, and real, which is exactly how these moments should feel. Capturing a love story in a place that already means something to a couple is always special, and this session was a reminder that the best photos often come from simply letting go and having fun together.
